Summer Baptisms In IMCA's Lake by Wilma Abbott
Monday, June 15, 1998, was a typical summer day. It had been hot all day and as the late afternoon approached the wind picked up, the thunder and lightning became louder; soon the sky was darkened and we knew rain was inevitable. The spirits of about 50 people were not to be dampened by the weather. An important event was about to take place at the IMCA campgrounds. Steve Crawford would be our first baptism in the lake. The service was held in the hogan while the storm raged on with rain pounding on the roof. After Richard Hensley gave the baptismal charge, with or without umbrellas in hand, we walked to the sandy beach to witness this holy ordinance. What a magnificent setting as Steve was laid under the water to wash away his sins. As we returned to the hogan for the confirmation service we rejoiced that the Lord had moved upon Steve to make this commitment in his life.
On August 23, 1998, Brian McClain and his fiancée, Lora Kirschner, were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ. Brian is the son of Ron and Sandy McClain who are active members of IMCA. Each of these new members are active in IMCA. We thank those that have been faithful with their prayers and financial support for making these moments possible.
