News From Our Navajo Saints by Richard Hensley

Our ministry to our Navajo brothers and sisters this year has been one of mixed emotions. We are always glad to visit the Saints in Pinon, Arizona, but some of our trips were very sad because of so many deaths of our friends. This year we lost a very dear and faithful sister, Blanche Yazzie. Then the beloved matriarch of Twisted Water, Maggie Begay, passed on to be with the Lord. Then our dear friend, Alphonso Nez, Sr., passed on to his reward. We ask each of you to remember their families and friends in your prayers.

After Alphonso's funeral at a gathering of family and friends, Tom Begay, a Navajo Councilman and good friend, presented a Navajo flag to me for the Church. Then Victor Beck, a long time friend, said he would see that the Church would get a parcel of land to build a church. In fact, he wants a proposed plan for the building site. Brother Alphonso always wanted a youth center which would be a part of the church building, along with a permanent residence for missionaries.

The Dine Church of Jesus Christ Restored wants to thank all their church brothers and sisters for the small teaching camps held this last summer. IMCA is looking forward to the coming year with hope for another summer of ministry to the Navajo Saints.
