The Indian Religion by Richard Hensley
It has been said in stories and legends by the old one that many years back, more than any man can remember, that there once was a mighty civilization spread allover the land. Even today the archeologist find evidences of this from Meso America up into the Ohio Valley. These people were strong and built many great buildings. They had great agricultural areas with canals for irrigation which produces an abundance of com and plenty of food. There was peace all through the land and things were very good.
These people had a very powerful religion and many holy men taught the people their religion and how to walk in the good way. They wrote a sacred book and had many prophecies which kept the people always looking to the Great Spirit. Their sacred writings were handed down by the holy ones, to these chosen servants of the Great Spirit. Sometimes a great Chief would keep the records and hand them down to his son or to another holy man. It is said that there was never such a blessed people on the earth.
After many years some of the people began to be lifted up in the pride of their hearts, because of having more than others. They did not want to help the poor or old ones anymore. Soon they began to fight over their riches and to divide into clans or tribes and the great government of the people also became very wicked. The holy ones went among the people trying to keep them in the right way and remember their religion and the Great Spirit. But the people would not listen. They were warned if they did not repent of their evil ways that the Great Spirit would send great .judgments upon them but they became more hardened in their hearts. Soon all were at war one against another.
Now the Creator looked down upon his people and was sorry in his heart that his people had departed from the way they had been taught by the holy men.
There was a mighty warrior who walked in the ways of their religion and he had the written records of the history of the people and the sacred writings and prophecies given by the Creator. Since the people wouldn't turn from their wicked ways and would not listen to the holy ones, the Creator told this mighty warrior to hide all the sacred records up in mother earth till it would be time to bring them forth again.
The people continued to divide and war among themselves. There were a few ancient ones who remembered the teachings of the holy ones and tried to keep the teachings alive but soon these old ones passed on taking the sacred words with them. They lost their written language when the sacred records were buried in the earth. Some tried to remember the old stories to bring peace and the true religion back, but, without the sacred records of their language they could not know of these things.
In their sacred record was the promise of this land being a chosen land which was to belong to the people. The Creator told them that if they would follow his teachings that the land would be a blessing to them and their children. The Great Spirit also told them that if they did not walk in his teachings and keep his laws, that another great people would come over the great waters and bring them into bondage.
It was also written in their sacred writings that there once was the Holy One who came down from heaven and gave them their religion and taught them how to walk in the good way. He chose the holy ones and told them what they should teach the people. When the Holy One from heaven came, he healed all that were sick, he opened the eyes of the blind and caused the lame to walk. He even raised some from the dead. The Holy One from heaven was called The Son of the Great Spirit or The Son of God. Over the years he has been called by many names such as Quetzalcoatl by the natives of central America, and Wakea, Wahkan, Wakan-tonka by some of the northern tribes. The Son of the Morning Star is found in many of the old stories and legends.
Soon the people had become of different language and scattered allover the land. They continually warred among themselves. Then the prophecy of a great peoples coming across the great waters began to be fulfilled. Now the native people were no longer a strong nation and the white people were very powerful and begin to destroy and drive the natives from land to land until they had just a small amount of land left. They were placed on these small pieces of land and could find no way to provide food or a way to live. The white man's government gave just a little to keep them alive. The native peoples were told it was evil to be an "indian". The white man had a religion very much like that of the native peoples but he did not live his religion. Surely this white man's Jesus could not be the same Son of the Creator who came and taught the native people their true religion. The Son of the Morning Star, as he was called by many of the tribes, didn't teach them to lie and cheat others.
The creator looked down upon this chosen land and saw all the suffering of his people. Yet the prophecies of the ancient ones told in the last days that the Great Spirit would bring their sacred records from the earth. It said that the anglo people, or Gentiles as the prophecy called them, would have the record first. The Gentiles were to try and correct the traditions that had polluted their religion and restore it to the true religion.
The holy prophets saw our day and time and wrote in the sacred record that the Gentiles would reject the sacred record which came out of the earth. It said only a few faithful would take it back to the native peoples. Those ancient holy ones also said the land would be given back to the people as their sacred religion was restored. The record also told of a great leader who would arise, being called of God, to do a great work in gathering them together and restoring the spiritual power promised.
Today we hold in our hands the ancient and sacred writings of the Native Americans. The Lord has commanded us to take their book or sacred record back to them. IMCA's task is to restore their record and to share with them the teaching of Jesus Christ. The prophecies are being rapidly fulfilled. The time is now. Who will assist in the Lord's latter day work? We invite all who can to support this ministry in restoring our Native American brothers and sisters to the true religion.
